Scams Which Target ICOs – Part 2

Part 2

How do scammers work?

  •  The phishing case above is one is the most widespread types of fraud. Scammers create a fake website copying the project’s original landing page – or, in case of Telegram, create a look-alike website mentioning the real founders and team members.
  •  Scammers might send the emails with links to a phishing website or with a wallet address. To create a mailing list, they may steal a database of users who wait for an ICO to start.
  •  Also the scammers might create fake social media accounts of founders or team members and offer potential investors some perks – for example, an access to a closed pre-sale, a referral link with bonuses leading to a phishing website.
