After the launch of the national cryptocurrency Petro last week, the Venezuelan government introduces a training course to teach citizens how to buy, sell and mine digital currencies.
How much does it cost?
It’s free. According to Carmen Salvador, a course teacher, “many of our young people here find it impossible to have this amount of resources, [but] the Venezuelan state is guaranteeing that all can participate through these plans”.
Why is it important
Petro was launched by Venezuelan government to attract foreign investors and bypass economic sanctions. However, a mass adoption can be achieved only with crypto trading literacy of the locals. A free training course for people, majority of whom otherwise won’t be able to afford it, is an important step towards the actual usage of Petro.
What can we learn from it
- Crypto training is actually a good initiative which can be adopted by other governments.
- The school will include a mining farm and a mining laboratory so the training will be done on the real-life facilities.
