U.S. Olympic Luge Team Goes Crypto

What happened

The United States Olympic Luge Team announced they are the first Olympic team in the country to accept Bitcoin in donation.

Why does an Olympic team need donations?

Ahead of Games in South Korea, they are hoping to promote that cool sport discipline and at some point to be able to independently fund the team. The athletes compare themselves to bitcoiners who know what it’s like to be all in on something that the world doesn’t appreciate yet.

Sounds interesting…

Same does for former luge Olympian and crypto investor Ty Danco. “By hodling bitcoin with the express goal of holding on through the 2022 and 2026 Olympic Games, the sport hopes to change from being underfunded to being able to support full teams on the World Cup level at the same time as developing grassroots youth programs to develop athletes,” he says.

What can we learn from it

  • Bitcoin in sports? Sounds fun!
  • Bitcoin used for good deeds like supporting young athletes – even better!
  • U.S. Luge team is definitely the one to look out for in 2018 Pyeongchang.
