Lufthansa, one of Europe’s largest airlines, made a deal with Winding Tree, a Swiss travel platform built on the Ethereum blockchain.
Tell me more!
Winding Tree will help Lufthansa in creating decentralized, blockchain-based travel apps, while Lufthansa will integrate its APIs with the startup’s platform. Win-win!
Why is it important
If an interesting business adoption model is not enough, here is more. Lufthansa will invest in Winding Tree’s LIF token sale. And eventually LIF will be a mechanism to book hotels, flights (!) and cruises on the blockchain. So Lufthansa makes an early move here.
What can we learn from it
- European airlines are actively exploring blockchain – apart from Lufthansa, we see it at Russia’s S7 and Air France KLM.
- Data sharing across multiple points and decentralized transactions make airlines a perfect match for blockchain adoption.
